Color Code 101

Written by Laurie Palau. Posted in BLOG: A Life More Organized, Getting Organized, Organized Home

Being organized doesn’t have to be boring. In fact, I believe that your organizational style should reflect your creativity and personality.

One easy and inexpensive way for you to organize your home is to color code. When items are grouped together by color it eases the eye and calms the mind. I often recommend color-coding closets to my clients as a way to easily find items, but why stop there?

What about your bookcase?  Bookcases often look cluttered simply by default; various shapes and sizes placed on shelves blending together as one giant wall of overwhelm. If you’re looking for a fun way to showcase your library of books consider grouping them by color.

Let’s take it one step further; if you vary heights and alternate displaying them vertically and horizontally it provides natural breaks making your space appear more organized.
